Academic Grades

What other grades are given?

  • NOTE! A "DR" means dropped without prejudice and does not average into your grade point average (GPA). You do not receive credit for a drop.
  • An "S" gives credit but does not average into your GPA. It means you completed the course satisfactorily.
  • A "U" does not give credit, and it also does not figure into your GPA. It indicates that you did not complete the course satisfactorily.
  • An "I" is an incomplete.
    • An incomplete is only given at the instructor's discretion for students who have completed most of their coursework satisfactorily, but because of illness or other unusual circumstances need an extension of time to finish the remainder of the requirements.
    • Incompletes not finished by the mid-point of the next semester automatically become drops.
  • "AU" means audit which neither grants credit nor affects your GPA. You must elect to audit a course within the first two weeks of classes. Once you decide to audit, you cannot change your status.
  • "R" means that the course was repeated. "R" grades are not averaged into your GPA.
  • "NG" means no grade was reported. If you receive an "NG", you should check with your instructor to find out what happened.
