Where can I get help?
Contact your instructor.
- All full-time instructors have ten hours set aside each week to
meet with their students about academic concerns. Most instructors
list their office hours in the class syllabus.
- Your instructor can help you assess what your chances are of being
successful in your class and can make suggestions on what you need
to do to improve.
Go to the Learning Lab.
- In the Learning Lab full-time faculty can help you strengthen your reading, writing,
or mathematics skills.
- Assistance is free and is available on a drop-in basis.
- The Lab, located in the LRC-200, North wing, top floor, operates most of the hours the College is open.
- You can also take a variety of skill-building courses through the Lab.
- You can find additional information about the Learning Lab
in the College Catalog or by phone (845-9643)
Go to the Assisted
Learning Services (ALS).
- TheAssisted Learning Services Office, which is located in the LRC-125, North wing, main floor, provides free tutorial assistance to
students who are in jeopardy of failing a class.
- ALS also helps students who are physically or otherwise challenged
to overcome educational barriers.
- Note-taking, readers, and test-taking assistance are some of the
available services.
- You can find additional information about ALS
in the College Catalog or by phone (845-9617).
Make an appointment with a counselor.
- Counselors can help you identify realistic alternatives when facing
academic difficulty in a class.
If your academic difficulties are due to a personal concern, counselors can
assist you in dealing with your problems.
- If you are having test anxiety, consider taking one of the free self-hypnosis workshops
offered through the University Transfer, Advising, and Career Counseling Center to help you learn to relax.
