Thank you for visiting the HFCC Tech Prep website. The Henry Ford Community College Tech Prep Partnership is a member of the Southeast Metro Tech Prep Consortium. That means students who attend high school in Wayne or Monroe Counties are eligible for free college credit while still in high school. You may already be a Tech Prep student.

Who is a Tech Prep student?
Students interested in career fields that require at least a two-year college education.

Students who would like to pursue a vocational certificate or apprenticeship program designed to provide employability skills.

Students enrolled in a general education program.

A high school diploma is no longer the key to a good paying job. You need to educate and train yourself to prepare for the rapidly changing work expectations of business and industry.

What do I get out of Tech Prep?
Technical skills that will help you advance in a career.

Ability to work as a team and share productive ideas with others.

Reduce your need for introductory course work at the community college.

Build the connection between education/training and the demands of your future employers.

The Tech Prep grant is part of the Carl D. Perkins act. Tech Prep helps connect high school and community college educators and their students through professional development activities and curriculum development workshops.

Tech Prep benefits vocational education students by providing Educational Development Plans for future careers and occupations in business and industry and can lead to trade and apprenticeship positions.

High school students can earn college credit that will transfer to a community college and or a four-year university.
